Calm, balanced, moderately active. Gets along well with other pigeons. Strong instinct for incubation and raising offspring. Less inclined to flight than sports breeds.
Luttich Owl (Cravaté Liégeois) — Belgian decorative line of domestic pigeons. Compact, stocky, rounded "ball-shaped" pigeon of medium size with an extremely short neck, small rounded head and the main feature — a dense vertical stiff collar (cravate) on the chest and front of the neck made of feathers 35–55 mm long, forming an even arc. Weight 380–520 g (ideal 420–480 g), body length 220–260 mm. Beak short thick 14–17 mm, eyes large dark brown, legs very short with dense white plumage ("trousers" 25–40 mm). Body wide deep, wings short 160–185 mm, tail short 70–85 mm, horizontal. Plumage dense stiff glossy. Recognized colors: black, red, yellow, blue, silver, smoky, bronze. Differs from other owl-like pigeons by a shorter thicker neck, vertical dense collar, absence of an occipital crest and an extremely rounded body. Ideal proportions: body 2.3–2.5 times longer than the head, neck no more than 1/5 of the body.
