common diving petrel
Pelecanoides urinatrix
The common diving petrel is a small seabird about 20 centimeters long. It spends almost its entire life in the open ocean, dives excellently, and uses its wings to move underwater.
The common diving petrel differs from other petrels in its short wings and excellent diving abilities. It plays an important role in the marine ecosystem by eating plankton and serving as food for large predators.
