pacific loon
Gavia pacifica
The white-necked loon is a large waterfowl bird that dives well for fish. In summer it lives on lakes in the tundra and northern forests, and in winter it stays in sea waters.
The white-necked loon differs from closely related species by the white front part of the neck and smaller size. It is important for nature as a predator that regulates the number of fish in northern lakes and seas.
