Phelsuma mutabilis is a diurnal gecko with a thick tail that inhabits Madagascar. It has bright green coloration with red spots, can change its skin color and is active during the daytime.
The thick-tailed day gecko differs from related species with its very thick tail for fat reserves and the ability to quickly change skin color. It helps maintain balance in nature by eating harmful insects and pollinating plants with nectar.
