Paraliparis bathybius
Paraliparis bathybius
Paraliparis bathybius is a deep-sea fish from the Liparidae family. It lives on the ocean floor at a very great depth where there is almost no light.
Paraliparis bathybius differs from other fish by its soft body without scales which does not compress under the enormous pressure of water. The species is important for deep-sea ecosystems as a predator of small invertebrates.
captures prey with its mouth and gulps it down whole
