Pearl mullet
Alburnus tarichi
Alburnus tarichi, or the pearl mullet, is a fish from the carp family that lives only in Lake Van in Turkey. It is capable of existing in very alkaline water where there are almost no other fish.
The Pearl Bleak differs by its ability to live in the highly alkaline water of Lake Van, where other fish do not survive. It occupies an important place in the lake's food chain and serves as food for birds.
