The tamaraw, or Philippine dwarf buffalo, is a small wild animal from the family of bovids. It lives only on Mindoro Island in the Philippines and is distinguished by its small size compared to ordinary buffaloes.
The tamaraw differs from other buffaloes in its small size, thick short horns, and life in the mountains of one island. It is important for nature because it eats plants and helps maintain the balance of grasses and shrubs on Mindoro.
