Glyptothorax botius is a small freshwater fish from the Sisoridae catfish family. It lives in fast mountain streams of South Asia and uses a special sucker to hold onto rocks.
Glyptothorax botius differs from other catfish by its chest sucker. This feature allows it to live in very fast streams where other fish cannot hold on. It helps maintain balance in water bodies by eating insect larvae.
Locomotion through water employed while searching for or capturing prey.
Legendary longevity: over 100 years. Galapagos tortoises, Greenland sharks, ocean quahogs celebrate with family once every 4 years
Immature form that undergoes metamorphosis before adulthood.

Theoretical maximum lifespan estimated from the Dynamic Energy Budget (DEB) mathematical model. This value reflects a biological potential derived from metabolic parameters, not from direct observation — real recorded lifespans are often significantly shorter.
