The lyre deer is a medium-sized deer with horns of a special shape that resemble the musical instrument lyre. It lives in grassy plains and forests of Southeast Asia and is now found very rarely.
The lyre deer differs from other deer in the special shape of its antlers, which completely renew every year. It is important for nature because it eats grass and helps maintain open spaces where many other animals live.
