bar-tailed trogon
Apaloderma vittatum
The African mountain trogon is a medium-sized bird with bright plumage. Males have a green back and red belly, while females are colored more modestly. It lives in the mountain forests of Africa.
The African mountain trogon differs from other trogons with white stripes on the underside of the tail. It helps spread tree seeds and controls insect populations in mountain forests.
