Oxynotus bruniensis
Oxynotus bruniensis is a small deep-sea shark with very rough spiny skin. It lives on the continental slope off the coasts of Australia and New Zealand at depths of several hundred meters.
The spiny dogfish differs from other sharks by its extraordinarily rough skin and humped body shape with huge dorsal spines. It is important as a predator that regulates the population of small animals on the deep-sea bottom.
