Norwich Cropper
Calm, phlegmatic, pronounced crop-inflating instinct (cropper). Less active in flight compared to other pigeon breeds, prefers to display a static posture with an inflated crop. Gets along well with other pigeons, non-aggressive.
Norwich Cropper is one of the largest and most massive breeds of fancy pigeons in the "pouter" group. Large, powerful, vertically positioned pigeon with a highly developed crop. Weight 650–950 g (ideal 750–850 g), body length 380–460 mm, wingspan 850–950 mm. Head relatively small, rounded, broad in the frontal area (length 45–52 mm). Eyes large (diameter 12–14 mm), dark orange to dark red. Beak of medium length (22–27 mm), powerful. Neck very long (140–170 mm at rest), strongly muscular. Crop extremely large, pear-shaped or spherical (diameter when inflated 180–220 mm), sharply demarcated from the chest, skin thin and elastic. Body broad, deep, posture almost vertical (70–85°). Wings long (240–270 mm), tightly fitting. Legs long and strong (95–115 mm), with short-feathered tarsi. Tail short (110–135 mm), consisting of 12–14 rectrices. Plumage dense. Distinguished from other pouters by significantly greater mass, more vertical stance, more spherical and sharply demarcated crop, absence of a strongly developed "collar". Allowed colors: black, red, yellow, silver, blue, white, pied. Most valuable are solid colors with metallic sheen on the neck and crop. Height in stance 380–450 mm. Disqualifying faults: weak crop, folds on the crop, horizontal stance, narrow body, weak legs.
