Calm, friendly, attached to humans, moderately active. Strongly expressed instinct for incubation and raising offspring. Less inclined to fly than most breeds of domestic pigeons.
Oriental Frill — small decorative breed of domestic pigeons with an extremely short, almost square (“cubistic”) body. Weight 240–340 g (ideal 270–300 g), body length 220–260 mm. Distinguished by a very short thick strongly curved beak (15–19 mm), round wide head (length 38–42 mm), short thick curved neck with a high dense symmetrical cravat (cravat) height 35–55 mm. Main feature — feather structure: strongly curled, almost spiral feathers (“frill/curl”) on the chest, throat, shoulders and neck, creating a karakul effect. Body short and deep, chest wide rounded, back very short strongly convex, top line — steep arc. Wings short (140–160 mm), tightly pressed. Tail short (55–70 mm), of 12–14 feathers, slightly raised. Legs very short (tarsus 25–32 mm), fully feathered (pug stockings) without rosettes. Ideal proportions: body length ≈ height, beak length : head ≈ 1:2.2, wing : body ≈ 0.65. Acceptable colors: black, red, yellow, blue, silver, smoky, lavender, bronze and their tiger/mottled variants. Disqualifying defects: long/straight beak, flat head, weak cravat, absence of curl on shoulders, long body, rosettes on tarsi, long legs.
