Microstomus achne, or slime flounder, is a marine flatfish from the flounder family. It lives on the bottom of the northwestern part of the Pacific Ocean and has slimy skin.
The mucous flounder differs from other flounders in its abundant mucus on the skin and body shape. It serves as an important link in the food chain of the sea bottom and is an object of local fishing.
Immature form that undergoes metamorphosis before adulthood.
