Golden coin turtle
Cuora trifasciata
The Chinese three-striped box turtle is a small freshwater turtle with a yellow shell and three black stripes on it. It lives in forest streams and ponds in southern China and northern Vietnam.
This turtle differs from its relatives by three bright black stripes on the carapace and the ability to fully close up. It is important for nature because it eats insects and disperses plant seeds. The species is very rare due to hunting for medicines and sale in pet stores.
