The bronze sultana is a small bird of the rail family about 23 centimeters long. It lives in freshwater swamps and thickets of Africa, walks well on floating leaves and swims quickly.
The bronze swamphen differs from related species by its smaller body size and bright bronze sheen of the feathers on the back. It is important for nature because it eats many insects and serves as food for predatory birds in African swamps.
