eastern phoebe
Sayornis phoebe
The eastern phoebe is a small gray bird from the tyrant flycatcher family. It lives in the eastern part of North America, often builds nests near humans, and catches insects right in the air.
The eastern phoebe differs from similar flycatchers by the absence of bright stripes on the head and the habit of constantly wagging its tail. It is beneficial to nature because it eats a large number of harmful insects.
