The silver saithe, or European pollack (Pollachius pollachius), is a marine fish from the cod family. It lives in the northern Atlantic, swims quickly, and feeds on other animals.
The silver saithe differs from the closely related saithe by its protruding lower jaw and lighter coloration. It is important for the ocean as a mid-sized predator that controls the population of small fish and serves as food for seals and large fish.
Immature form that undergoes metamorphosis before adulthood.
