Archboldia is a rare bird from the bowerbird family that lives only in the mountain forests of New Guinea. Males build special flat platforms from ferns and decorate them with black beetle elytra to attract females.
Archboldia differs from other bowerbirds by having a flat platform instead of a voluminous bower. The bird is important for the mountain forests of New Guinea because it spreads plant seeds and serves as an indicator of ecosystem health.
