indian fantail
Индийский павлиний голубь (Indische Pfautaube)
Calm, peaceful, moderately active. Strongly expressed instinct for incubation and chick rearing. Males may show moderate territoriality during the breeding season, but overall the breed is non-aggressive. Gets along well with other pigeons.
Indian Fantail — a large and massive ornamental breed of domestic pigeon. Differs from the basic Columba livia f. domestica by a significantly increased number of tail feathers (30–40 vs 12), a vertically spread enormous tail, short feathered legs, a broad almost square body, and greater mass. Differs from the European/American Fantail by even greater massiveness, a wider and rounder tail (up to 42 feathers), a short thick neck, pronounced cup-shaped feathering of the legs, and a horizontal body posture. Ideal proportion: height when standing (220–280 mm) approximately equal to the diameter of the spread tail (280–380 mm). The tail comprises 70–75 % of the visual height, the angle between the back and the tail is close to 90°. Self-colored plumage (white, black, red, yellow, silver, blue, dun) and patterns (Magpie, Grizzle, Domino) are allowed. Not allowed: fewer than 28 tail feathers, tail tilt >10–15°, weak leg feathering, narrow body.
