crèvecœur
Crèvecœur
Calm, phlegmatic, friendly, but may show caution and some timidity. Gets along well with other chickens, has a moderate brooding instinct.
Crèvecœur — one of the largest French meat-egg chicken breeds. Massive, broad, compact bird with a pronounced “cubic” silhouette. Live weight of roosters 3500–4500 g (standard minimum 3.8 kg), hens 2800–3500 g (standard minimum 3.0 kg). Body length (from beak to end of tail) 550–680 mm in roosters, 480–580 mm in hens. Distinguished by a unique horn-shaped (V-shaped) comb, very developed dense beard and muffs completely hiding the face, massive broad build with relatively short legs. Main color — black with intense green metallic sheen. Skin and down white. Acceptable proportions: chest width ≈45–48% of height at withers, back length ≈25–28% of total body length. Disqualifying defects: any comb shape other than V-shaped, absence of beard, narrow long body, white shanks, red or light eyes, weak plumage sheen.
