ural striped maned pigeon
Ural Striped Maned Pigeon
Calm, balanced, moderately active. Navigates terrain well, has a strong homing instinct. Less timid than many other homing and ornamental breeds. Gets along well in a flock, shows moderate territoriality during nesting.
Medium-sized decorative breed of domestic pigeons with a strong proportional build, well-developed chest and the main breed feature — a lush vertical mane on the neck. Body length 340–390 mm, weight of males 360–460 g, females 340–420 g. Head small rounded-oval, beak 18–22 mm, neck 85–110 mm, wing length 210–245 mm, tarsus 28–34 mm, tail length 110–135 mm. Main color — striped (striped) on white or light gray background with clear black/dark gray transverse stripes on wings (stripe width 4–6 mm). Mane, neck and chest with strong metallic green-violet or bronze-green sheen. Differs from the base species (Columba livia) by the presence of a vertical mane 45–70 mm long, stable white background and light iris of the eye. Proportions: body length to mane length ~6:1, head ~1/3 of body length. Disqualifying faults: absence of mane, blurred stripes, red/yellow iris, feathered legs.
