Barauis petrel
Pterodroma baraui
The Barau's petrel is a medium-sized seabird from the petrel family. It spends almost its entire life flying over the Indian Ocean and nests only on the high mountains of Réunion Island.
Baro's storm petrel differs from other storm petrels by a white spot on its forehead and limited breeding grounds. It is important for the ocean ecosystem as a consumer of marine animals and serves as an indicator of marine environment health.
