Drepanis funerea
The black mamo flowerbird is an extinct bird from the Hawaiian Islands. It had completely black plumage and a very long curved beak for extracting nectar from flowers.
The black mamo differed from other honeycreepers with its particularly long beak. It helped pollinate the plants of Hawaii. The species went extinct due to loss of forests and diseases.
