dwarf cassowary
Casuarius bennetti
The muruk, or dwarf cassowary, is the smallest bird among cassowaries. It lives in the mountain forests of New Guinea, runs fast, and mainly feeds on fruits.
The muruk differs from other cassowaries in its smaller size, more modest helmet on the head, and life high in the mountains. It is very important for the forest because it swallows large seeds and disperses them far from the parent tree.
collects food with its beak from the ground and low bushes
