The koel is a large cuckoo that lives in Asia. Males are entirely black with a green sheen, females are brown with white spots. This bird never builds nests and lays eggs in others'.
The koel differs from other cuckoos with its loud repetitive call and strong sexual dimorphism in coloration. As a brood parasite, it affects the population of host nests, and by eating fruits, it helps plants spread.
