Feeding of the Bengal tiger

Here we explain what the Bengal tiger eats at different ages and in different seasons.

Bengal tiger: what is it like

Bengal tigers are carnivores; the young initially drink their mother's milk and later consume meat from animals caught by the female. As adults, Bengal tigers hunt independently, employing ambush tactics and active hunting strategies, including group hunts. Their diet consists of deer, wild boars, small mammals, and large mammals, as well as caimans, pheasants, iguanas, galagos, and antelopes. The species obtains food through ambush and active hunting. A Bengal tiger’s daily food requirement ranges from 3 kilograms to 7 kilograms. Some cultures consume this animal, but it is not considered halal or kosher.

The Bengal tiger cub is the offspring of the Bengal tiger in the first two years of its life. It is born small and helpless, but grows quickly under the mother's protection and learns to hunt.
The Bengal tiger cub differs from adults with lighter fur and complete dependence on its mother. The tiger is important for nature as the top predator that prevents ungulates from overpopulating.
