Pomeranian Cropper
Calm, phlegmatic, moderately active. Strong crop inflation instinct (cropper), displays it frequently and for long periods. Gets along well with other pigeons, non-aggressive, but can be territorial during courtship. Characterized by pronounced demonstrativeness and a "proud" posture.
Pomeranian Cropper — medium-sized but very massive-looking breed of domestic pigeons, bred for the demonstration of a highly developed crop. Weight of males 380–480 g, females 340–420 g. Total body length 340–380 mm, wingspan 620–680 mm. The bird gives the impression of a short, compact and “stuffed” body. The head is relatively small, rounded, slightly convex in the frontal part (length 45–52 mm). Eyes large, iris diameter 9–11 mm, color dark orange to dark red. Beak of medium length (18–22 mm), straight. Neck short and very thick. Crop extremely developed, pear-shaped or spherical; when inflated — perfectly round or slightly oval, height 110–140 mm, width 90–120 mm, starts immediately from the base of the beak. Body short, wide, deep, barrel-shaped. Back short, wide, slightly convex. Chest wide and rounded. Wings short (190–215 mm), tightly pressed. Tail short (80–95 mm), tightly assembled, slightly raised (30–45°), 12–14 tail feathers. Legs short, strong, tarsus 28–34 mm, slightly feathered (trousers 8–15 mm). Plumage dense, smooth, with gloss. Acceptable colors: black, red, yellow, blue, ash-gray, white, silver, piebald variants. Differs from the basic species and other croppers by a significantly shorter compact body, extremely developed spherical crop starting almost from the beak, shorter neck and round head. Ideal proportions: body length ≈ height in stance, head+neck+crop ≈ 40–45% of visual height when inflated. Disqualifying defects: narrow/long body, weak/asymmetric crop, folds on the crop, heavily feathered tarsi, long tail/fan, weak skeleton, narrow chest, long thin neck.
