pinta tumbler
Pinta Tumbler (Pinta Tumbler pigeon)
Lively, energetic, highly active. Strong instinct for somersaulting in flight (back somersaults). Sociable with conspecifics, moderately attached to humans, non-aggressive. Prefers flock flight.
Pinta Tumbler (Culbutant Pinta, Colom de Pinta, Pinta Balear, Esbart) — small flying-ornamental breed of domestic pigeons from the Balearic Islands. Compact, sturdy, short-bodied tumbler-type pigeon with a dense, rounded, "ball-shaped" silhouette, high-set head and very short neck. Weight 240–310 g, body length 220–260 mm, wingspan 480–540 mm. Head small and rounded (38–44 mm), beak short and thick (14–17 mm), neck 45–55 mm, body short and broad (130–155 mm from sternum to tail), wings 160–175 mm (shorter than tail by 10–20 mm), tail 65–80 mm with 12–14 rectrices, shank 28–34 mm. Plumage dense, smooth and glossy. Main color — black-pied with large clean white markings ("white mask", collar, wing mirrors); red-pied, yellow-pied, blue-pied also allowed. Colored areas saturated with metallic sheen. Differs from other tumblers by smaller size, more compact build, short neck, high head carriage and stable Balearic pied pattern. No crest. Ideal proportions: head length ≈ 1.3 shank length, beak ≈ ⅓ of head, body ≈ 3.5–4 head lengths.
