escampadissa tumbler
Escampadissa Tumbler
Energetic, highly active, with a strongly pronounced instinct for flight and tumbling in the air. Sociable with conspecifics, but can be independent. High endurance in flight, loves to demonstrate acrobatic tricks at high altitude.
Escampadissa Tumbler (Colom d’Escampadissa) — a medium-sized breed of Catalan-origin tumbler pigeons. Male weight 260–340 g, female weight 230–300 g. Total body length 280–330 mm. Light, elegant build, compact body, well-developed pectoral musculature, long strong wings. Small rounded head, length 45–52 mm. Thin straight beak, length 18–22 mm. Thin gracefully curved neck, length 65–80 mm. Long wings (190–215 mm), tips reaching the end of the tail or slightly protruding. Short tail (80–95 mm) with 12 rectrices. Short legs (tarsus 28–34 mm), clean-legged. Dense, smooth, glossy plumage. Acceptable colors: black (with green sheen), red (brick-red/cherry), yellow (lemon to golden), blue (with black bars), silver, smoky. Preference for pure solid-colored birds; small white markings on the head are allowed. Distinguished by smaller size and lighter build than most European tumblers, thin elegant beak, completely clean legs, and characteristic sharp 'escampadissa' flight style.
