Crotalus polystictus is a medium-sized venomous rattlesnake living only in central Mexico. It has a rattle on its tail that warns of danger, and special pits on its head for detecting the heat of prey.
Crotalus polystictus differs from other rattlesnakes by its small head and special pattern on the body. It helps maintain balance in nature by eating rodents, and itself serves as food for large birds and mammals.
