Orange-necked cassowary is a large flightless bird from the forests of New Guinea. It has bright coloring on the neck, a tall helmet on the head, and a very sharp claw on the leg.
The orange-necked cassowary differs from other species with one earring on the neck instead of two. It is important for the forest because it disperses plant seeds after they pass through its intestine.
Legendary longevity: over 100 years. Galapagos tortoises, Greenland sharks, ocean quahogs celebrate with family once every 4 years

Theoretical maximum lifespan estimated from the Dynamic Energy Budget (DEB) mathematical model. This value reflects a biological potential derived from metabolic parameters, not from direct observation — real recorded lifespans are often significantly shorter.
