elegant crested tinamou
Eudromia elegans
The elegant crested tinamou is a medium-sized bird with a tall straight crest of feathers on its head. It lives in steppes and shrublands of South America, runs quickly on the ground, and hardly flies.
The elegant crested tinamou differs from other tinamous by its very long and straight crest. It plays an important role in steppe nature by dispersing plant seeds and eating harmful insects.
