pigeon guillemot
Cepphus columba
The pigeon guillemot is a medium-sized seabird with black plumage and white patches on the wings. It lives on rocky shores of the northern Pacific Ocean, swims excellently and dives for prey.
The pigeon guillemot differs from related species by large white patches on the wings in summer plumage and red legs. It is important for nature as a consumer of small fish and part of the food chain of seabirds and mammals.
