Lefua echigonia is a small freshwater fish up to 15 centimeters long. It lives on the bottom of clean streams and rivers in Japan and uses sensitive barbels to search for food.
Lefua echigonia differs from related species by the special arrangement of eight barbels and the pattern on its body. It is important for nature because it eats small animals and detritus, helping to clean the water in Japanese rivers.
