The New Mexico whiptail lizard is a small lizard that lives in the southwestern United States. This species has no males; all individuals are females and reproduce without fertilization.
This species differs from other lizards by the complete absence of males and reproduction through parthenogenesis. It helps scientists study how animals can live and reproduce without sexual processes.
Legendary longevity: over 100 years. Galapagos tortoises, Greenland sharks, ocean quahogs celebrate with family once every 4 years
Immature form that undergoes metamorphosis before adulthood.

Theoretical maximum lifespan estimated from the Dynamic Energy Budget (DEB) mathematical model. This value reflects a biological potential derived from metabolic parameters, not from direct observation — real recorded lifespans are often significantly shorter.
