The Apapane is a small bright red bird. It lives only on the Hawaiian Islands and feeds on the nectar of flowers.
The apapane differs from other Hawaiian honeycreepers by the bright red color of almost its entire body and white feathers under the tail. The bird is important for nature because it pollinates ohia trees and helps preserve the forests of Hawaii.
