african egg-eating snake
Dasypeltis atra
The black egg-eater is a non-venomous snake from Africa that feeds exclusively on bird eggs. It has a completely black body and special processes inside the neck with which it breaks the shell.
The black egg-eater differs from other snakes by the absence of ordinary teeth and a special way of feeding on eggs. It regulates bird populations in nature and serves as food for larger predators.
