When does a Cairn terrier stop growing, and how big does it get?

Not "about like mom": a size forecast for a Cairn terrier from real growth data of a puppy at different ages

When a Cairn terrier stops growing depends on its age and size. Enter the measurements of the puppy and the calculator shows how much more it has to grow and how big it will become.

Growth calculator: how big will the young animal grow

How it works

We know how animals grow: for every species and many breeds we know the average weight and size of a young animal at different ages, from birth to adulthood. Give the age, sex and at least one measurement of the youngster (weight, length, height at the withers or length with the tail) and we will show how big it will most likely grow. This is a range, not an exact number: growth depends on nutrition, health and heredity. The more measurements, the narrower the range.

For now we calculate only for mammals with the necessary data: at present cats and dogs, including many breeds.

An extended version is coming soon. It will take measurements at several ages at once, pull the weight and height from the pet diary and refine the forecast by the sizes of the parents and grandparents.

What size will a Cairn terrier be when fully grown?

The size of an adult falls into a range that depends on sex and line. Enter the age and a measurement of the puppy and we show the mass, length and height you can expect.

What weight is normal for an adult Cairn terrier?

A normal weight is a range: it depends on sex, height and build. The calculator shows the limits for the mass of an adult Cairn terrier, and it is not a diagnosis.

At what age does a Cairn terrier puppy reach its adult size?

Animals grow fastest in the first months, then growth slows down. The exact age depends on sex, nutrition and health, so we show a range.

How do I choose food and space for a puppy knowing its future size?

Go by the expected mass and size of the adult, not the current ones: choose food by age and check with a vet. The calculator helps estimate the size but does not replace the advice of a specialist.
