Adult size forecast: Domestic short-haired cat, from its kitten

Not "about like mom": a size forecast for a Domestic short-haired cat from real growth data of a kitten at different ages

When a Domestic short-haired cat stops growing depends on its age and size. Enter the measurements of the kitten and the calculator shows how much more it has to grow and how big it will become.

Growth calculator: how big will the young animal grow

How it works

We know how animals grow: for every species and many breeds we know the average weight and size of a young animal at different ages, from birth to adulthood. Give the age, sex and at least one measurement of the youngster (weight, length, height at the withers or length with the tail) and we will show how big it will most likely grow. This is a range, not an exact number: growth depends on nutrition, health and heredity. The more measurements, the narrower the range.

For now we calculate only for mammals with the necessary data: at present cats and dogs, including many breeds.

An extended version is coming soon. It will take measurements at several ages at once, pull the weight and height from the pet diary and refine the forecast by the sizes of the parents and grandparents.

How big will my Domestic short-haired cat kitten grow?

It depends on age, sex, heredity and nutrition. The calculator shows the range of mass, length and height at the withers for a Domestic short-haired cat from the measurements of the kitten, not an exact number.

How much will a Domestic short-haired cat weigh as an adult?

The mass depends on sex and line, so we give a range. Enter the weight of the kitten and its age, and the calculator refines the expected adult mass.

When does a Domestic short-haired cat stop growing?

The main growth ends by a certain age and after that the size hardly changes. For a Domestic short-haired cat this age depends on sex and line; the calculator shows what share of the adult size the kitten has already reached.

How accurate is the growth forecast?

It is a guide, not a promise: growth depends on nutrition, health and heredity. The more measurements you enter, the narrower the range.
