- Jaguar hunts turtles — its powerful jaws can crack their shells.
- Unlike other large cats, the jaguar sometimes bites through the victim's skull. In cows that have been attacked by jaguars, the cervical vertebrae are often broken, and the heads are thrown backward.
- The jaguar is the third largest cat in the world and the largest in the New World.
- The jaguar is the largest cat in the Americas and the only one that regularly kills prey by biting through the skull.
- Brazilian hunters claim that the jaguar is supposedly able to hypnotize its prey. This claim is not supported by scientific evidence, but it is widely spread among local people.
- Jaguars rarely attack humans, and cannibalism among them is a rare occurrence. They usually attack when defending themselves.
- According to indigenous beliefs, the jaguar (Panthera onca) is able to mimic the cry of any bird or animal to lure them in, helping it during hunting.
- When hunting, a jaguar emits a low, broken growl, and during the night and mating season, it roars loudly.
- A jaguar weighing 158 kg is a record holder for mass in nature. Usually, its mass ranges from 60 to 90 kg, but in some cases it reaches 120 kg.
- Can drag prey heavier than itself into a tree.

年齢
The jaguar undergoes several stages of development, beginning with the embryonic stage when the embryo develops inside the mother. The cub is born blind and completely dependent on its mother, who feeds it with milk and protects it. The cub’s eyes open at an age of 1 to 2 weeks, and it begins to walk at an age of 2 weeks 4 days to 4 weeks. Sexual maturity occurs in the period from 2 to 4 years, after which the species transitions to the adult jaguar stage, which hunts alone and protects its territory, this stage lasts from 3 to 20 years. The typical lifespan is from 21 years to 35 years, the maximum is 28 years, and the theoretical is from 14 to 28 years.

- Can drag prey heavier than itself into a tree.
The jaguar is a species possessing yellow-orange fur with black rosettes, which aids in concealment within the forest. Sharp retractile claws assist in catching and holding prey, while powerful jaws allow for biting through skulls and shells of prey. A long tail helps maintain balance during swimming and jumping. The cub has fur covered with black rosettes on a yellow background for camouflage.
生理学
The jaguar’s body height ranges from 60 to 80 centimeters, and its body length varies from 1.1 to 1.9 meters; the species’ mass falls between 64.63 and 68.07 kilograms. During the embryonic stage, the body mass is from 1 to 150 grams. As a cub, the body mass is from 0.7 to 4.5 kilograms, with a body length of 35 to 65 centimeters. The adult stage shows a body mass ranging from 45 to 85 kilograms and a body length of 1.1 to 1.7 meters.
生息地
- The jaguar is the largest cat in the Americas and the only one that regularly kills prey by biting through the skull.
Jaguars inhabit elevations of up to 2 kilometers above sea level and are found in diverse biomes including desert scrub, which is very hot and dry with infrequent rainfall and cacti, flooded grasslands with abundant grass, tropical dry forests experiencing a dry season and leaf-dropping trees, tropical moist forests characterized by constant heat and humidity and large trees and vines, and tropical savannas with uneven rainfall and many grasses and trees; the species occupies terrestrial landscapes, including mainland forests and coastal tidal zones. The climate varies across these habitats, ranging from hot steppes with very hot, dry summers and abundant grass to extremely arid conditions with rare rainfall, and from winters with little precipitation and more rain in summer to hot conditions with few winter rains and plentiful summer rains, and even consistently hot and wet conditions with nearly daily rainfall year-round.
隠れ家
The jaguar inhabits dense thickets or caves, but the species does not have a permanent or long-term shelter. It lacks a fixed den, and therefore has no constant refuge. The jaguar utilizes shelters for reproduction, rest, and protection from the sun.
地理
- Brazilian hunters claim that the jaguar is supposedly able to hypnotize its prey. This claim is not supported by scientific evidence, but it is widely spread among local people.
