European robins inhabit land areas including terrestrial forests, terrestrial meadows and steppes, and elevations up to 1.5 kilometers above sea level. The species occupies temperate mixed forests with warm summers and many oaks, birches, and maples, flooded meadows where water frequently covers the ground and there is abundant grass, and taiga characterized by cold winters and numerous coniferous trees such as spruce and pine. The climate is consistently very wet with frequent rain and high humidity; it can also feature cool summers with snow in winter, warm summers with plentiful rain, warm winters that are not extremely cold, or comfortable summers with temperatures between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius.
