The Eurasian jay occupies a terrestrial landscape, specifically ground forests, and is found at elevations up to 2 kilometers. This species inhabits temperate mixed forests characterized by warm summers and an abundance of oak, birch, and maple trees, as well as flooded meadows with abundant grasses where water frequently inundates the land. Furthermore, the European jay’s habitat includes taiga environments with cold winters and numerous coniferous trees such as spruce and pine. The climate varies, with some areas experiencing constant moisture and frequent rainfall, while others have cool summers and snowfall in winter; other regions feature warm summers and plentiful rainfall, or simply warm summers and mild winters, with comfortable summers averaging between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius.
