- Litters contain 1–4 young.
The giant forest genet typically lives for 10 to 15 years, with a maximum lifespan of 22 years and 9 months, and a theoretical lifespan ranging from 11 years and 4 months to 22 years and 9 months. The species reaches sexual maturity between 2 and 3 years of age. Development proceeds through an “Embryo” stage where the fetus develops inside the mother, followed by the “Young” stage, which is a newborn dependent on its mother’s milk and lasts from 1 day to 4 months. During this time, the young are blind and completely reliant on maternal care. The final stage is the “Adult” stage, when the animal can reproduce and hunt independently.
