Ngựa Nội
Calm, balanced, hardy, well adapted to Vietnam's tropical climate. Possesses strong health, low feed requirements, high resistance to heat and local diseases. Social, but may show independence.
Ngua Noi (Ngựa Nội) — Vietnamese native pony-type horse breed, one of the smallest in the world. Height at withers 90–110 cm (stallions 98–108 cm, mares 92–105 cm), live weight 80–130 kg (average 90–110 kg). Build compact, sturdy, with well-developed musculature, adapted to mountain work and poor forage. Head relatively large, broad in the frontal area, with a straight or slightly concave profile, short broad muzzle. Ears small (90–120 mm), erect, widely set. Eyes large, dark brown or almost black, widely spaced. Nostrils large, widely flaring. Neck short, thick, muscular, with low set. Body compact, barrel-shaped, with chest depth 38–45 cm and girth 110–125 cm. Back short, straight or slightly soft, broad; loin and croup short, broad, rounded. Belly and flanks voluminous, "pot-bellied". Limbs short, strong, with pastern girth 12.5–14.5 cm; hooves round, very strong, often black or dark horn. Tail low-set, short, dense. Coat short, coarse, tightly fitting (lengthens and thickens in winter), skin thick, well pigmented. Allowed colors: black, bay (all shades), brown, dun, mouse-gray, roan; small white markings allowed. Differs from the base type by significantly smaller size, coarser primitive head, short thick neck, exceptional endurance and adaptation to tropical climate.
