Slender stargazer
Crapatalus angusticeps
Slender stargazer, or Crapatalus angusticeps, is a marine fish up to 25 centimeters in length. It lives on a sandy bottom, burrows into the substrate and hunts from ambush, exposing only its eyes and mouth.
Slender stargazer differs from other fish by its eyes on the top of its head and its ability to fully bury itself in the sand. It is important for nature because it controls the population of small animals on the seabed.
