Amur Horse
Calm, balanced, friendly, hardy. Well adapted to the harsh climate of the Amur region and the Far East, possesses a strong herding instinct and increased resistance to cold.
Amurski horse — an extremely rare, primitive, low-growing forest breed of pony of the northeastern type from the Amur basin and Manchuria. Height at withers 1100–1280 mm (ideal 1150–1220 mm). Weight of mares 180000–240000 g, stallions 210000–280000 g. Body length 1300–1480 mm. Constitution strong, dry, with pronounced primitiveness. Head relatively large, broad in the frontal part (forehead 160–190 mm), profile straight or slightly concave ("pike" muzzle). Ears small, erect, 95–120 mm. Eyes large, dark brown or almost black. Nostrils large. Vibrissae long (80–100 mm). Neck of medium length (420–520 mm), muscular. Body compact, deep (chest depth 580–670 mm), back short (420–480 mm). Limbs dry, strong, pastern girth 145–170 mm, fetlocks 90–110 mm, hooves very strong with friezes. Tail set low, thick. Winter undercoat extremely dense (up to 40–50 mm). Mane and forelock very dense and long. Allowed colors: dun of all shades, grullo/dun with bright primitive markings (dorsal stripe, zebra striping, "wings"), rarely bay with markings. Differs from the base type by very dense winter coat, high bone index (13.8–14.7 %) with small height, pronounced primitive markings, strongest hooves and adaptation to monsoon climate and deep snow. Format index 1.08–1.14, chest depth index 52–56 %, massiveness 1.65–1.85. Not allowed: height above 1300 mm, piebald, absence of primitive markings in duns, weak constitution.
