Grade horse
Character and temperament vary greatly depending on origin, upbringing, and individual traits. Often show high adaptability, endurance, and calmness in work. Can be either energetic and lively or phlegmatic. Aggression level is usually low with proper handling. Instincts depend on bloodline mixtures (e.g., herding, hunting, or riding).
Grade horse — category of horses without pedigree, not a breed. External characteristics are extremely variable. Height at withers 1300–1780 mm (more often 1420–1680 mm), live weight 320000–650000 g. Build ranges from light riding to massive draft or pony-like, constitution dry or raw type. Head length 480–680 mm, may be dry Arabian-type or coarse with convex profile. Ears 110–160 mm. Eyes 45–55 mm in diameter. Nostrils 40–65 mm wide. Neck 650–950 mm, with developed crest in stallions. Body 1450–1950 mm, withers 80–160 mm above the back. Limbs variable, cannon bone 180–260 mm, cannon bone circumference 160–240 mm, hooves 70–95 mm high. Feathering 30–120 mm or absent. Tail with hair 600–1100 mm. Coat in summer 5–12 mm, in winter 25–55 mm. All colors and markings of the domestic horse are allowed. Differs from purebreds by the absence of a stable breed type and pedigree. No official standard, at shows evaluate harmony, correct angles, strong back, deep body.
