Australian Stock Horse
Calm, balanced, obedient, highly energetic, with a strong instinct for working with cattle. High trainability, gentle character, excellent performance under prolonged loads. Less timid than many other riding breeds.
Australian Stock Horse — compact, athletically built, medium-sized riding horse of working type. Height at withers 1420–1650 mm (ideally 1520–1620 mm), weight 400000–650000 g. Square format (body length ≈ height at withers), strong dry bone structure, pronounced musculature of the croup and shoulders. Head medium dry (length 480–580 mm), profile straight or slightly concave. Neck of medium length (550–750 mm), muscular. Back short (420–520 mm), croup long and slightly sloping. Limbs with correct conformation, cannon bone circumference 180–220 mm, hooves 110–135 mm in diameter. Coat short, dense, glossy. All solid colors and roans are allowed (bay, black, chestnut, grey, roan); pinto, cream and silver — disqualifying. Differs from the basic domestic horse by greater compactness, dryness, powerful hindquarters and maneuverability at working speeds.
