Bavarian Warmblood
Calm, balanced, friendly and obedient character. High performance, stable psyche, good trainability. Less temperamental than many other warmblood breeds, which makes them reliable partners for amateurs and professionals.
Bavarian Warmblood — a large, athletically built warmblood, developed in Bavaria (Germany) primarily for classical dressage, show jumping, and eventing. Height at withers: 158–172 cm (ideal range according to the standard 162–168 cm). Live weight: 550–680 kg (stallions usually 600–680 kg, mares 550–620 kg). Conformation is harmonious, muscular, with a pronounced athletic topline and deep body. The more distinctly expressed “Bavarian type” combines power and elegance. Longer and more muscular croup compared to the Hanoverian. Drier, more expressive head and higher neck set than in most older German warmbloods. Superior ability to collect and a more “riding-type” conformation than the Holsteiner. Calmer and more balanced temperament. Desirable proportions: body length approximately equal to height at withers (±3 %), length of the forelimb (from elbow to ground) about 52–55 % of height at withers, neck length should be roughly 90–100 % of head length. Acceptable colors: black, bay (all shades), chestnut (all shades), gray, palomino, cremello, buckskin, roan, pinto (Tobiano, Overo, Sabino). Not allowed: brindle coloring, excessively expressed leopard complex (LP).
